How To Prepare For An Interview

You probably are anxious enough so let’s just cut to the chase.

Oh yeah, and congrats on getting selected by the way (whoo!).

Practice!

It’s simple, all you have to do is to stand in front of a mirror or reflecting surface, and start talking to yourself.

Don’t be ashamed! Trust us, the benefit of doing that beats the cost of you attempting to save face. Lock yourself in your room if that helps!

Use this to practice articulating your words. It’s ‘TH-ree TH-ousand’, not ‘T-ree T-ousand’.

Think also, of how you would answer standard selection questions like the o so familiar “Tell me more about yourself” make it or break it question. Rehearse, rehearse and keep rehearsing!

Read up!

About the company you are applying to and the job description of the role you are applying for. Imagine if you actually thought Carousell was a carnival management startup… (facepalm)

Read up extra tips (like this one) to help you prepare for your interview. Or you can try to read reviews written by existing or past employees of the company you are being interviewed for, and pick up some wise words of advice, if any. Be smart and resourceful, these are good traits to save your own life. (Good on you for reading this article).

Suit up!

Ensure you have your outfit ready! Don’t be too flamboyant—you’re not attending a fashion show. Neither be too comfortable—don’t go wearing your polo tee and jeans! Just google “interview outfits for males/females” and voila! Okay, we trust you know better not to follow ALL that Google says…

Relax!

Have a cup of coffee, breathe, sleep early, eat gummy bears. Do whatever you need to get your nerves chilled before your interview. Remember, you don’t want to be like an anxious swimmer flailing your arms all over the place. Keep calm to stay afloat. You can do it!

Preparing for your interview empowers you with much more confidence to speak. So you don’t have to worry about a thing! Oh but hold on, you still need something. Check out this article to enable you to get through and ACE your interview 😉 All the best!
